Jane,
a life transformation coach, created an
attractive website in the year 2000. She posted
information about her programs, how she could
help people, her background with a nice picture,
details of books she has published, contact
details and a few free articles on transforming
one's life.
However her page
mentions, 'Site Last Updated - October 30th, 2000.' Since the time her website
was created, Jane has published a few more
books, added a few more programs and upgraded
her skills. However, visitors to her website
know nothing of this because her website has not
been updated ever since it was created! Jane is
loosing potential customers and revenues from
sale of her new books probably without her
realizing it.
Repeat visitors have stopped coming to her site
because they see no new articles to read or
information about new programs. Jane's website rankings have dropped drastically. Her page
which used to show up in the top 20 results on
Google now shows up at number 157.
Jane thinks the Internet is not really working
for her and stops paying attention to her site!
What could Jane
have done to prevent this? All it takes to make
a website continue to deliver results is a few
hours of web maintenance a month. Internet users
overwhelmingly voted inaccuracies and out-dated
information as their number one dislike. A static site
does not attract repeat visitors and your search
engines rankings also suffer. It it important to
add fresh content, remove dead links and track
your site performance on a regular basis. |
